Norton Antivirus software: New technology has established Norton as the leader in antivirus removal

Norton have improved their range of antivirus products immensely in the last 24 months. Norton Antivirus, Internet Security and Norton 360 are now leading the field with software that kills viruses and spyware without interrupting the user.

Norton's three antivirus products account for +50% of the total market. Norton products are commonly pre-installed on computers and laptops, though these versions do not often provide full protection against viruses and other threats like computer worms, spyware, adware, trojans and rootkits.

Sometimes the version that is pre-installed allows you to scan for viruses only but not remove them until an annual subscription is paid, while other free versions might not update its list of latest viruses, thereby only allowing users to remove ones that existed when the computer was shipped.

As with all antivirus software, Norton products are paid for on a yearly basis. Without paying for subscription renewals, a user's PC will not be protected from viruses that are created after the date of renewal. Unfortunately with tens of thousands of new viruses created each year, users need to remain protected so annual subscriptions allow the anti virus companies to continue research and development and to improve their detection technologies.
